Aspartate and Biotin Deficiency

In moderate genetic defects of pyruvate carboxylase, aspartate is usually low or undetectable. My odd-chain fatty acids were all at or near the top of the normal range. These are indicators of biotin deficiency because biotin is needed for their downstream metabolism. The acid burden was leading to an analogous hydrolysis of asparagine that forms aspartate.
