How Long Will It Take to Get to Human Level General Intelligence?

i think there's great uncertainty on the time scales for this, but er, there are really two different time questions you could ask. How far are we now from say, some kind of human level general intelligence? And how long will it then take until we get something radically superintendent? My guess is, on the second question, that that might be quite quick. i think our concept of smartness iscalebrated on the existing human distribution. We use this concept to classify and understand people. But if we're instead asking, how difficult is it to engineer a system that can do all the things that einstein coul do?
