The people of selbu had differing opinions about bell gunnis when her crimes finally came to light. The people who actually knew her, such as a farmer named rude who employed belle as a dairymaid, described her as a well behaved, diligent person. Allegedly, when belle was 17, she got pregnant by a local bigwig but when he found out about the pregnancy, he allegedly beat bell until she miscarried. But that's the thing, as that it's said that this guy died something awfully similar to arsenic poisoning soon after.
