#62 — What is True?

Making Sense with Sam Harris

CHAPTER

We're Not Designed to Be Perfect Mathematicians, or Perfect Logic Operators

We are designed to function within a very narrow band of light intensities and physical parometers. And we did not evolve to be perfect mathematicians or perfect logical operators, or perfect conceivers of scientific reality. So i think it's not unreasonable to assume that you're making the metaphysical claim, in some sense, that darwinian truth is nested inside newtonian truth. It's an amazing fact bout us that seems not to be true, remotely true of any other species we know about. But i would grant you that there are no guarantees as we move forward in that space. We should be sceptical about how easy we can have it in this space.
