Is Christmas Even a Religious Holiday?
The secular and the religious are very complicated when it comes to Christmas, especially being sort of like an aggressively inclusive holiday. So you have on the one hand, people wanting to protect Christmas from this nasty sort of public commodification,. On the other hand, they want other sort of theological perspectives to have broader sway in public. It's interesting to think about where Christianity needs to be protected from the secular...and where Christianity is thought of as appropriately infusing the secular.
