Can I Prevent All Snow From Getting Into My Shoe?

It just depends on your comfort level. Somebody with a lot of hiking experience can see a like a steep pitch pass and go through it without any issue. Whereas somebody that has never hiked on snow or is new to snow is going to be kicking themselves, not having the option to do that crossing. And if you're coming into the PCT and you don't have any snow travel experience, it's one of the situations where it's better to have it not needed in the other way around.
