The court has long recognized, at least since the 1960s, the inherently suspect qualities of eyewitness identification evidence. In other words, a scientist might say something on the stand and the jury thinks, yeah, maybe but there's another interpretation. But when it comes to an eyewitness, we tend to say, okay, that's the gospel.
