Amyloid is the protein that's most associated with Alzheimer's disease. If if this amyloid protein gets misfolded inside the inside the neurons, it's an inflammatory process. Then you get these other types of neurofibrillary tangles called tau. And they're kind of these structural tangles around the neurons. So there's very much a physical process that's happening in the cells that are destroying the cells.
