The Causes of Things
Philosophy uses the natural light of reason to understand reality around us, especially by way of grasping the meaning of things. The cause of a thing really probably just refers to the efficient cause. You might even say it explains in a certain way the order that is in the thing and also why it's there. What is intelligible about the thing as well as how it came about and what it's made of.
