The writers are the nerdy ones. They're the ones who don't fit in at the parties. And this was the whole point of the Raymond Chandler piece. Hollywood is a place for showmen. Writers don't tend to be showmen. Some can be showmen and Aaron Sorkin is a showman. There are these people who have immense writing talent that can be out there and love to explain their point of view on the world.
