National Liberation in the Multi Ethnic Russian Empire

Strikes and protests landed in the peripheral parts of the empire, where it combined with the third channel of protest, the minority nationalities. The union of liberation was doing a good job fusing together radical bers of the intelligencia but they all still struggled to make contact with the working classes. Even though the workers were now willing, even eager, to listen to scathing attacks on the czar, they were still suspicious of attempts to turn their legitimate economic and social grievances into ammunition for a political project they didn't really care about. These waves of strike and protest spread so fast that the czarist regime could hardly keep up.
