Pension allowance cap is described as aimed at getting older people back to work. But according to the Times, it's going to cost £2.7 billion. It's estimated to only bring 15,000 people back into the workforce. And for every one person that they get back into work, it costs the taxpayer something like £66,000. So even by the metrics of the thing they're trying to help, which there have been called by some doctors to try and deal with this, it is a very expensive way to try and do itOne.
