Easing Our Children's Transition to School

Respectful Parenting: Janet Lansbury Unruffled

CHAPTER

The Importance of Respecting Our Children

Transitions are difficult for children, just generally. Most three and a half year olds could probably be ready for a few hours a week of nursery school. But the parent has to believe in it. And also have confidence in their child to be able to handle a change,. That's approaching this with respect. It doesn't mean that we never say no to them, or we never help them brush their teeth if they don't like that. We want to find a place that we're very comfortable with, or the most comfortable with that we can be. Ideally, most schools will let you sit and observe.
