The internal locus of control is the most important thing that needs to be developed for kids confidence. You don't want them dependent on the validation that you provide or that someone else provides, which is why we don't praise. So when we encourage, it's not about outcome ever. It's about what work are they investing? What are they contributing? And you acknowledge that, which helps them to go, I did work hard. I didn't give up. I was able to keep going.
