Jean-Belschon's Life
In the musical, Jean-Belschon is a man who all he's ever known is justice and injustice. He sees himself as nothing more than an animal after being in jail for 20 years. A bishop offers him food at his home but instead of murdering him, he steals from him. Thebishop then takes down these two solid silver candlesticks and gives them to Jean-Beltschon. It's this huge moment where the bishop says: "I have bought your soul for God"
