Is the US Going to Play Hardball With the Saudis?

There are some who say that if the US were to sever ties or at least to reduce its support for Saudi Arabia, that would push the Saudis closer to China and to Russia. I think there is a likelihood that the Saudis would gravitate more to Russia and to China but they're doing that right now. The idea that the United States would cause them not to hedge their bets by being extra kind to them and turn an extra blind eye to their negative policies, I find completely unconvincing. There's a likely that the Saudis are going to do this anyways.
