The Future of Retrieval Mechanisms
I would definitely like more research into different paradigms or different architectures and trying to be more efficient in general. So obviously reinforcement learning is not an answer to any of these things either because that's very computationally inefficient, right? I actually haven't looked into how inefficient performance learning is compared to unsupervised learning, but right now it doesn't seem to be a viable alternative at all. And for saving compute, you could also try sparsity. There's a lot of stuff going on there which I don't really know much about, but it seems like an exciting research direction.
