Britain Should Not Have Fought in the First World War

Intelligence Squared

CHAPTER

Introduction

Britain's involvement in the First World War has been questioned throughout the 20th and 21st century by academics. In 2014, we invited leading historians Margaret McMillan, Max Hastings, John Charlie and Dominic Sandbrooke to an event hosted by Edward Lucas. Each speaker is going to speak for nine or ten minutes and then we're going to turn it over to the floor. You've all got your voting cards for later on and you'll get a chance to express your view once you've had a chance to listen to the panel.
