San Martin's Preparation Made a Difference

By the end of 18 16, san martin had raised somewhere around five thousand men. Martin set up textile factories to weave cloth to make him uniforms and blankets and coats. He also started mass producing portable food stuff that would sustain his army through the desolate stretches of the mountains. The entire economy of kuyo was now built around building his army. San martin's attention to logistical detail and careful preparation put him in marked contrast with the more romantic windmill tilting that seemed to define believer's career.
