Optogenetic Stimulation
A lot of people have started talking about this kind of issue. When you drive a strong optogenetic stimulus, you have very strong effects on downstream regions. And so what we'd like to think is that all optical interrogation gives us the ability to tickle the circuit. But it's worth mentioning that as our method improves, and we can stimulate 100 neurons in a few milliseconds,. That is a large and very likely highly non-physiological stimulus still.
