So when you started your PhD it sounds like you had some interest in these knowledge bases and then your work during the PhD was kind of on this area. Back at the time there was the University of Leipzig and they had this Google summer of code project around the time the free base was letting go. So I started working there for a year with them to change their infrastructure to inject data from wiki data and try to remove duplicates. That opened so the same group later got into a European project that is based on knowledge bases and NLPIt was a question answering project which was quite relevant to my research background.
