The Intimacy of Embroidery

Embroidery at the time was largely visual. Very rarely are you going to get words. The exceptions to that are samplers. Early dated example from England comes from a woman named Jane Bostock, who stitched her sampler in 1598. She stitches an alphabet and she fills each letter in with little tiny pearls.
