I think it is about as you're suggesting finding common ground first. How does the DOD actually frame the problem at large in terms of this collaboration? And how would you suggest trying to find common ground? I stood up a responsible AI part of the joint AI center. Nobody told me to do it. Congress didn't legislate it. It's just I thought it was the right thing to do based on my experiences with Project Maven. The military is in a business of fighting wars, but it doesn't mean that any company could be involved in that are for the greater good.
