Ivan Sutherland, the inventor of computer graphics proposed that in the mid 60s and built one in 69. The first headset that tracked, so that as you move your head, there's a compensated 3D virtual world that appears to be stationary outside you. And we did a lot of the first applications like surgical sim and designing interiors and vehicle prototyping. But let me assure you, you can find people who will wanna talk about this all night and argue about the little minutiae of which term is this and we did that.
