CHAPTER

The Role of Dynamism in Biblical Commentaries

I think one of the contributions you've made that was really interesting to me is your work on what it means to sort of an apocalyptic uh I don't know reading of scripture. How does this affect the way biblical commentaries are written? You cite J. Lewis Martin and Karl Barth as exemplars of figures who have written um sort of apocalyptic apocalyptically toned comment like biblical commentary. What did Paul understand himself to be writing scripture in the sense that he understands the Old Testament? He writes them in the conviction that God through these works through these words will do transformative work in the congregation that hears these words read.
