The Origins of the Geocentric Model in Greek Astronomy

Heraclides may have argued that the planets orbited the sun, which in turn orbited the Earth. Aristarchus of Samos maintained not only the rotation of the Earth, but also that the sun was at the centre of the solar system. Ptolemy's most famous work, the Almagest, would become the most important work of astronomy in the ancient world. In the next episode, we'll take a bit of a detour to look at the achievements of two of the greatest scientists of the ancient world, Eratosthenes and Avastarchus.
