How to Work With a Team Who Doesn't Get This
If you see someone who is punishing your child for a STEM, if they have completely removed a behavior and said that's not appropriate, you want to put a VIP in place. We do not allow anyone on the team to punish your child for the STEM. All self-injurious behavior is not automatic reinforcing. In fact, a lot of it is attention-seeking. But we never punish for self-stimulatory behavior. We just don't do it. It's not effective."
