A History of the Cherokee Nation
In 19 83, the cherokee nation introduced a new rule. In order to vote, everyone in the tribe had to be cherokee by blood. The reverend nero was one of the first freedmen to sue the tribe in federal court but the suit was dismissed. David cornsilk started doing his own research and helped another woman bring her case to tribal court back in the nineties. Both cases were making their way through two different legal systems.
