South africa has historic ties to russia and the soviet union. Some government ministers have made that quite clear. The way in which the libyan situation was handled in 20 11 has really left a very black mark in the way in which south africa views the west. Also just want to make the point about western hypocrisy that is very much part of the debate here in South Africa.
