"If the wires weren't doing anything, you would expect that the material that the wires were made out of would be inconsequential and the only thing that would matter would be the dielectric," he says. "Now, unfortunately... So then why couldn't you have wires that are made out of non-conducting materials? It seems like the materials... If there is an instrument in circuit at Edinburgh, it is worked by energy that has traveled wholly through the dielectrics." He adds: "Nothing of what caused the instrument to react in Edinburgh was caused by anything traveling in the wires"
