Polkadot is a framework for scaling out the Ethereum protocol. It was created by Vlad Zamostov and Merit Kotovich of Parity, an open-source software company. Polkadot lets you create chains that can be used in different ways without having to use all shards of Ether. The project has been working on since late 2014 but only just finished its first version this year.
We finally sit down with Gavin to go through a bit of what Parity has been working on with Polkadot and Substrate. We talk about Polkadot early history and who was involved and where the idea spawned, up to coding practices and where Substrate became a thing.
