The biggest problem that I see with most layoffs is that when people get laid off, they tend to feel like they're at fault. If you look at people's self-esteem after firing, what we discover is the way in which people were fired actually determines that a self-esteem. So oftentimes, what we struggle to understand as employees is that corporations are operating within what I would call a constructed reality.
