What Did You Learn About the Construction Business?

Not being a contractor by trade, what did you learn about the construction business right away that surprised you? One of the first things i saw was there's not a lot of use to technology. We didn't have an accounting system that was really designed for construction. The thing that really struck me about commercial construction was, whow is this risky? You know?
