The cognitive hypothesis has become so universally accepted that it is easy to forget that it is actually a relatively new invention. You can trace its contemporary rise in fact to 1994 when the Carnegie Corporation published Starting Points, meeting the needs of our youngest children. The report launched an entire industry of brain building, zero to three products for worried parents.
