The world is getting hotter, and because of that climate change, there's more variability. We get greater extremes, like the extreme heat we're seeing this year. But we also see extreme flooding events because warmer air can hold more moisture in clouds. The understanding of climate change and global warming is not new. Scientists understood the mechanics of it back in the late 19th century but there's been a collective reluctance to take action.
