Having a Literary Experience Was a Great Thing
When he was a boy his mother wanted him to be an is officer. She thought that this would give him power and prestige. He never took the u p exams, which were written by one of her colleagues. When he went to hydrobathna for university he started reading socialist literature. His poetry began to take on larger questions about society than just stories.
He grew up breathing Kannada literature -- and he also embraced the globalised world.
