Kawasaki Disease: A Case Study
Kawasaki disease is predominantly seen in Japanese children, followed by other ethnic groups with lowest incidence among Caucasians. It's seen throughout the world in children of all ethnicities and making this diagnosis is important because of cardiac complications. Around four to five percent of children with Kawasaki disease may develop coronary artery aneurysms. These patients are at risk associated stenosis or obstruction of that affected artery, and subsequent myocardial infarction, and potentially death.
