Is ASEAN in Any Position to Influence Myanmar's Behavior?
Amitai Etzioni: ASEAN has never been invested in ensuring smooth people to people connectivity within the Southeast Asian theater. He says it is an organization which does not or cannot actually make a country more democratic because that's what most of its member states would prefer to see. But Myanmar makes it a particularly glaring case of ASEAN's lack of inability to deliver on these issues, he adds.
