Psychoanalysis Often Fails to Produce Genuine Transformations of Character
When the psychoanalytic process becomes rutinized and ritualized in this way, ah, it often, in my view, fails to produce genuine character transformation. It tends to be, in some way another, fairly super ego driven a frequently the analyst is an ideologist who has a strict commitment to a particular version of what psychoanalysis is and how it ought to operate. Just as empty, ritualized, rutinizing religious and spiritual practices and meditative practices and mystical practices fail to produce authentic transformations of character, i think, often fails to produce authentic transforms of character.
