The Gift of Tongues in the Church

Pentecost is one of the three major pilgrimage fees that Jews celebrate. The New Testament talks about two types of speaking in tongues. One type is what we would call ecstatic speech. This is speaking in an unknown tongue that needs to be translated. But another type of gift of tongues is what we more commonly understand in the church. And that's when someone is given the gift to speak in a known language that they didn't know before.
