The History of Cod Hunting

The Basque were able to store and then sell cod extensively on the European market because they had something the Vikings didn't. What made cod so particularly unique and important was the fact that it cured so well. Instead of salting cod the Vikings just dried it. And if you dry cod which is called stock fish you can trade it. But it's not nearly as durable as salt fish or good to eat. We're going to hear from scared navians about this.
