Autism

The category of autism is very heterogeneous, at least biologically. We're making more progress in terms of understanding the genetics,. So what we know is that a small proportion of autistic people, their autism reflects a rare genetic event and they also have intellectual disability. But the majority of autistic people's autism is caused genetically just like their height. It's due to lots and lots of very common alleles, all of which have a very small effect size.
