freemasons initiated the prince of wales, frederick lewis in 17 37. This was an even greater mark of prestige and prominence for london's grand lodge. But fairly early on, it was followed by other grand lodges in other dominions of the british crown. Another grand lodge was organized in ireland in 17 25,. And then a bit later, in scotland, in 17 36. These new grand lodges could sometimes also be a rival to the so called grand lodge of england.
