The Keys of the Kingdom
Peter is often interpreted to mean that Peter was the foundation upon which the church was built. In verse 19, I will give unto thee Peter, the keys of the kingdom. These keys, as we are aware, are the right and power to preside. Now he's going to get more keys in the next chapter on the Mount of Transfigurations, but Peter is the key holder.
