Is Blender Better for VFX?

It's not that Maya or Houdini is necessarily better for VFX or animation. It's sometimes just that it's become an established workflow, right? There are plug-ins and workflows that a place like ILM cannot very easily shift to something else when they've already set up over the decades. I have also heard that Blender is lacking many features that would, that are necessary in order for it to be part of like a VFX pipeline. We had another paid question. How do you manage your time between running Polygon, the channel, the podcast, learning new stuff and the social home life?
