The zoot suit riots in Los Angeles were sparked by the death of a Mexican-American man. A citizens committee and an anti-American activities investigation looked for fascist and Nazi instigators, but no evidence was ever found or published to back up that angle. The report also addressed the idea that there was an epidemic of juvenile delinquency specifically among Mexican youth. It didn't touch on the fact that large numbers of servicemen were leaving their bases during World War II to attack civilians.
