The Pros and Cons of Sleeping Pills and CBT

I'm not anti sleeping pills, I think as long as they're being used in the right way. If you are taking them sort of ad hoc, so I take them every few nights when I've had a run of bad or I take it at three o'clock in the morning because I've woken up for me that's really maintaining the problem. You suffer from something called rebound insomnia. Rebound insomnia is when you sleep even worse the night after a sleeping pill that you would have done normally. So if you use them alongside the sleep program, things start to improve and then slowly you wean off them using other psychological techniques.
