What Is Bronchitis?
Bronchiolitis is the primary disorder that we see in severe RSV, which is called bronchiolitis. In tiny kids, those airways are so small that they get plugged up before it even makes it down to the alveoli. This happens because of swelling, because of mucus, because our own cells are getting left off and all these immune cells are coming in. These then get plugged up and eventually collapse. And that also causes that wheezing sound that you can hear if you listen to a kid with Bronchiolitis' lungs.
