Chad and the Pendulum

Chad finds a necklace and he claims that the spirit told him that, you know, it had special powers just for him. Magical thinking has roots in the very origins of the LDS church. If you're going to want power over people, you need to claim to have special powers. The reason why we're bringing up the pendulum isn't to make people look silly. It's to basically introduce that Chad is doing what Joseph Smith did, which is he needs an object to help him appear as though he has more powers so that he can have power over people.
