O'neil was funded by stuart brand's point foundation, which used profits from the whole earth catalogue to promote social good s. Brand saw it in order to advance a particular kind of agenda and keep ideas in the broader cultural con on. And this is cognate with what gerard o'neil said about new worlds that could end cultural conflict between cultures. You could produce worlds for everybody - they would all still be part of the bigger project,. where we can create an irish republic in space or something like that. So if body had their own world, there would be no more conflict over territory or ideology.
